The Kids First National Conference | Who We Are | October 26-27th, 2020

Who We Are

Mission Driven for Student Success

The 2020 Virtual Kids First National Conference seeks to generate a movement of adults dedicated to genuinely putting Kids First in our policies, delivery of services, strategies, approaches, technology models, and everyday interactions with our children and youth. Kids need a whole child approach by adults to having their needs met. Kids First will bring a broader group of child-serving professionals plus parents and grandparents together to lend voice to this movement, share innovative ideas, and design transformation in all aspects of caring for and educating our kids. The conference will equip attendees with the tools to innovate and transform to ensure our children and youth thrive.

There is a pressing need in today’s world for innovation and transformation to serve the needs of all learners. In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, we are all adjusting to a new normal and creating new and innovative ways to connect with our students through digital learning. Additionally, as students bring increasingly diverse and intense needs to general and special education settings, traditional approaches and methods of collaboration are no longer sufficient to meet student needs. The current educational system fails many of our students. Many schools do not prepare students with the skills needed for the jobs in the 21st century economy. In a hyper-connected world, the way we care for and educate our children needs to change.

The Conference is presented by The Children’s Guild Alliance, a national organization serving children, families, and child-serving organizations and dedicated to transforming the way America cares for and educates its children through education, behavioral health, national training and consultation services, in collaboration with the Towson University Department of Special Education.

 Our History

The National At-Risk Education Network (NAREN) was created to promoting the success of at-risk youth in schools and supporting the professionals who work on their behalf was founded by Dr. Anthony Dallmann-Jones in 2001.
